Section 1 Contract Act 1872 :Acceptance must be absolute - In order to convert a proposal into a promise the acceptance must

(1) be absolute and unqualified;

(2) be expressed in some usual and reasonable manner, unless the proposal prescribes the manner in which it is to be accepted. If the proposal prescribes a manner in which it is to be accepted, and the acceptance is not made in such manner, the proposer may, within a reasonable time after the acceptance is communicated to him, insist that his proposal shall be accepted in the prescribed manner, and not otherwise; but, if he fails to do so, he accepts the acceptance.

भारतीय संविदा अधिनियम, 1872 की धारा 1 का विवरण :  -  प्रतिग्रहण आत्यन्तिक होना ही चाहिए -- प्रस्थापना को वचन में संपरिवर्तित करने के लिए प्रतिग्रहण --

(1) आत्यन्तिक और अविशेषित होना चाहिए;

(2) किसी प्रायिक और युक्तियुक्त प्रकार से अभिव्यक्त होना ही चाहिए, जब तक कि प्रस्थापना विहित न करती हो कि उसे किस प्रकार प्रतिगृहीत किया जाना है। यदि प्रस्थापना विहित करती हो कि उसे किस प्रकार प्रतिगृहीत किया जाना है और प्रतिग्रहण उस प्रकार से न किया जाए तो प्रस्थापक, उसे प्रतिग्रहण संसूचित किए जाने के पश्चात् युक्तियुक्त समय के भीतर आग्रह कर सकेगा कि उसकी प्रस्थापना विहित प्रकार से ही प्रतिगृहीत कीजाए, अन्यथा नहीं, किन्तु यदि वह ऐसा करने में असफल रहता है तो वह उस प्रतिग्रहण को प्रतिगृहीत करता है।
