Section 178 The Army Act, 1950  :Restriction of rulemaking power in regard to corporal punishment. Rules made under section 177 shall not authorise corporal punishment to be inflicted for any offence, nor render the imprison- ment more severe than it is under the law for the time being in force relating to civil prisons.

सेना अधिनियम, 1950 की धारा 178 का विवरण :  - नियम बनाने की शक्ति पर शारीरिक दण्ड के बारे में निर्बन्धन - धारा 177 के अधीन बनाए गए नियम न तो किसी अपराध के लिए शारीरिक दण्ड का दिया जाना प्राधिकृत करेंगे और न कारावास को उससे अधिक कठोर बनाएंगे जितना वह सिविल कारागारों के संबंध में तत्समय प्रवृत्त विधि के अधीन हो।
