Section 44 Contract Act 1872 : Effect of release of one joint promisor – Where two or more persons have made a joint promise, a release of one of such joint promisors by the promisee does not discharge the other joint promisor or joint promisors, neither does it free the joint promisors so released from responsibility to the other joint promisor or joint promisors.

भारतीय संविदा अधिनियम, 1872 की धारा 44 का विवरण :  -  संयुक्त वचनदाताओं में से एक की निर्मुक्ति का प्रभाव -- जहाँ कि दो या अधिक व्यक्तियों ने एक संयुक्त वचन दिया हो, वहाँ वचनग्रहीता द्वारा ऐसे संयुक्त वचनदाताओं में से एक की निर्मुक्ति अन्य संयुक्त वचनदाता या संयुक्त वचनदाताओं को उन्मोचित नहीं करती, और न वह ऐसे निर्मुक्त संयुक्त वचनदाता को अन्य संयुक्त वचनदाता या संयुक्त वचनदाताओं के प्रति उत्तरदायित्व से ही निर्मुक्त करती है।।
