Section 30 Contract Act 1872 :Agreements by way of wager, void - Agreements by way of wager are void; and no suit shall be brought for recovering anything alleged to be won on any wager, or entrusted to any person to abide the result of any game or other uncertain event on which any wager is made.

Exception in favour of certain prizes for horse-racing - This section shall not be deemed to render unlawful a subscription or contribution, or agreement to subscribe or contribute, made or entered into for or toward any plate, prize or sum of money, of the value or amount of five hundred rupees or upwards, to be rewarded to the winner or winners of any horse-race.

Section 294A of the Indian Penal Code not affected -- Nothing in this section shall be deemed to legalize any transaction connected with horse-racing, to which the provisions of section 294A of the Indian Penal Code (45 of 1860) apply.

भारतीय संविदा अधिनियम, 1872 की धारा 30 का विवरण :  -  पंद्यम् के तौर के करार शून्य हैं -- पंद्यम् के तौर के करार शून्य हैं, और किसी ऐसी चीज की वसूली के लिए कोई वाद न लाया जाएगा, जो पंद्यम् पर जीती गई अभिकथित हो, या जो किसी व्यक्ति को किसी ऐसे खेल या अन्य अनिश्चित घटना के, जिसके बारे में कोई पंद्यम् किया गया हो, परिणाम के अनुसार व्ययनित की जाने को न्यस्त की गई हो

घुड़दौड़ के लिए कतिपय पारितोषिकों के पक्ष में अपवाद -- यह धारा ऐसे चन्दे या अभिदाय को, या चन्दा देने या अभिदाय करने के ऐसे करार को विधिविरुद्ध बना देने वाली न समझी जाएगी जो किसी घुड़दौड़ के विजेता या विजेताओं को प्रदेय किसी ऐसे प्लेट, पारितोषिक या धनराशि के लिए या मद्दे दिया या किया जाए, जिसका मूल्य या रकम पाँच सौ रुपये या उससे अधिक हो।

भारतीय दण्ड संहिता की धारा 294-क पर प्रभाव न पड़ेगा -- इस धारा की कोई भी बात घुड़दौड़ से सम्बन्धित किसी ऐसे संव्यवहार को, जिसे भारतीय दण्ड संहिता (1860 का 45) की धारा 294-क लागू है, वैध बना देने वाली नहीं समझी जाएगी।
