Section 227 Contract Act 1872 in Hindi and English 

Section 227 Contract Act 1872 :Principal how far bound, when agent exceeds authority — When an agent does more than he is authorized to do, and when the part of what he does, which is within his authority, can be separated from the part which is beyond his authority, so much only of what he does as is within his authority is binding as between him and his principal.

Illustration

A, being owner of a ship and cargo, authorizes B to procure an insurance for 4,000 rupees on the ship. B procures a policy for 4,000 rupees on the ship, and another for the like sum on the cargo. A is bound to pay the premium for the policy on the ship, but not the premium for the policy on the cargo.

भारतीय संविदा अधिनियम, 1872 की धारा 227 का विवरण :  -  मालिक कहाँ तक आबद्ध है जबकि अभिकर्ता प्राधिकार से आगे बढ़ जाता है -- जबकि कोई अभिकर्ता उससे अधिक करता है जितना करने के लिए वह प्राधिकृत है और जबकि जो कुछ वह करता है उसका वह भाग, जो उसके प्राधिकार के भीतर है, उस भाग से, जो उसके प्राधिकार के परे है, पृथक् किया जा सकता है तो जो कुछ वह करता है उसका केवल उतना ही भाग, जितना उसके प्राधिकार के भीतर है, उसके और उसके मालिक के बीच आबद्धकर है।

दृष्टान्त

 'क', जो एक पोत और स्थोरा का स्वामी है, ‘ख’ को उस पोत का 4,000 रुपये का बीमा उपाप्त करने के लिए प्राधिकृत करता है। ‘ख’ पोत का 4,000 रुपये का एक बीमा और स्थोरा का समान राशि का दूसरा बीमा उपाप्त करता है। ‘क’ पोत के बीमे के लिए प्रीमियम देने को आबद्ध है, किन्तु स्थोरा के बीमे के लिए प्रीमियम देने को नहीं।
