Section 221 Contract Act 1872 :Agent's lien on principal's property - In the absence of any contract to the contrary, an agent is entitled to retain goods, papers, and other property, whether movable or immovable of the principal received by him, until the amount due to himself for commission, disbursements and services in respect of the same has been paid or accounted for to him.

भारतीय संविदा अधिनियम, 1872 की धारा 221 का विवरण : - मालिक की सम्पत्ति पर अभिकर्ता का धारणाधिकार -- तत्प्रतिकूल संविदा के अभाव में अभिकर्ता को यह हक है कि उसे प्राप्त मालिक का माल, कागज-पत्र और अन्य सम्पत्ति, चाहे वह जंगम हो या स्थावर, तब तक प्रतिधारित किए रहे जब तक उसे तत्सम्बन्धी कमीशन, संवितरणों और सेवओं की बाबत् शोध्य रकम दे न दी जाए या उसका लेखा समझा न दिया जाए।
