Section 21 Contract Act 1872 :Effect of mistakes as to law - A contract is not voidable because it was caused by a mistake as to any law in force in India; but a mistake as to a law not in force in India has the same effect as a mistake of fact.
Illustration
A and B make a contract grounded on the erroneous belief that a particular debt is barred by the Indian Law of Limitation; the contract is not voidable.

भारतीय संविदा अधिनियम, 1872 की धारा 21 का विवरण : - विधि के बारे में भूलों का प्रभाव -- कोई संविदा इस कारण ही शून्यकरणीय नहीं है कि वह भारत में प्रवृत्त विधि के बारे में किसी भूल के कारण की गई थी, किन्तु किसी ऐसी विधि के बारे में की, जो भारत में प्रवृत्त नहीं है, किसी भूल का वही प्रभाव है जो तथ्य की भूल का है।
दृष्टान्त
'क' और 'ख' इस गलत विश्वास पर संविदा करते हैं कि एक विशिष्ट ऋण भारतीय परिसीमा विधि द्वारा वर्जित है। संविदा शून्यकरणीय नहीं है।
