भारतीय संविदा अधिनियम, 1872 की धारा 172 का विवरण : - गिरवी', ‘पणयमकार' और 'पणयमदार' की परिभाषा -- किसी ऋण के संदाय के लिए या किसी वचन के पालन के लिए प्रतिभूति के तौर पर माल का उपनिधान गिरवी' कहलाता है। उस दशा में उपनिधाता पणयमकार कहलाता है। उपनिहिती ‘पणयमदार' कहलाता है।
