Section 169 Contract Act 1872 :When finder of thing commonly on sale may sell it -- When a thing which is commonly the subject of sale is lost, if the owner cannot with reasonable diligence be found, or if he refuses upon demand, to pay the lawful charges of the finder, the finder may sell it(1) when the thing is in danger of perishing or of losing the greater part of its

value, or

(2) when the lawful charges of the finder, in respect of the thing found, amount to two-thirds of its value.

भारतीय संविदा अधिनियम, 1872 की धारा 169 का विवरण :  -  सामान्यतया विक्रय होने वाली चीज को पड़ी पाने वाला उसे कब बेच सकेगा -- जब कि कोई चीज, जो सामान्यतया विक्रय का विषय हो, खो जाए तब यदि स्वामी का युक्तियुक्त तत्परता से पता नहीं लगाया जा सके या यदि वह पड़ा पाने वाले के विधिपूर्ण प्रभारों के मांगे जाने पर संदाय करने से इन्कार करे तो पड़ा पाने वाला उसको बेच सकेगा --


(1) जबकि उस चीज के नष्ट हो जाने या उसके मूल्य का अधिकांश जाते रहने का खतरा हो, अथवा

(2) जबकि पाई गई चीज के बारे में पड़े पाने वाले के विधिपूर्ण प्रभार उसके मूल्य के दो-तिहाई तक पहुँच जाएँ।
