 Section 44 Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974: 


Penalty for contravention of section 25 or section 26.—Whoever contravenes the provisions of section 25 or section 26 shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than 1[one year and six months] but which may extend to six years and with fine.
