Section 311 of CrPC 1973 :- 311. Power to summon material witness, or examine person present — Any Court may, at any stage of any inquiry, trial or other proceeding under this Code, summon any person as a witness, or examine any person in attendance, though not summoned as a witness, or recall and re-examine any person already examined; and the Court shall summon and examine or recall and re-examine any such person if his evidence appears to it to be essential to the just decision of the case.

दंड प्रक्रिया संहिता 1973 की धारा 311 का विवरण :  -  311. आवश्यक साक्षी को समन करने या उपस्थित व्यक्ति की परीक्षा करने की शक्ति -- कोई न्यायालय इस संहिता के अधीन किसी जांच, विचारण या अन्य कार्यवाही के किसी प्रक्रम में किसी व्यक्ति को साक्षी के तौर पर समन कर सकता है या किसी ऐसे व्यक्ति की, जो हाजिर हो, यद्यपि वह साक्षी के रूप में समन न किया गया हो, परीक्षा कर सकता है, किसी व्यक्ति को, जिसकी पहले परीक्षा की जा चुकी है पुनः बुला सकता है और उसकी पुनः परीक्षा कर सकता है; और यदि न्यायालय को मामले के न्यायसंगत विनिश्चय के लिए किसी ऐसे व्यक्ति का साक्ष्य आवश्यक प्रतीत होता है तो वह ऐसे व्यक्ति को समन करेगा और उसकी परीक्षा करेगा या उसे पुनः बुलाएगा और उसकी पुनः परीक्षा करेगा।
