Section 28 of CrPC 1973 :-28. Sentences which High Courts and Sessions Judges may pass — (1) A High Court may pass any sentence authorised by law.
(2) A Sessions Judge or Additional Sessions Judge may pass any sentence authorised by law; but any sentence of death passed by any such Judge shall be subject to confirmation by the High Court.
(3) An Assistant Sessions Judge may pass any sentence authorised by law except a sentence of death or of imprisonment for life or of imprisonment for a term exceeding ten years.

दंड प्रक्रिया संहिता 1973 की धारा 28 का विवरण : - 28. दण्डादेश, जो उच्च न्यायालय और सेशन न्यायाधीश दे सकेंगे -- (1) उच्च न्यायालय विधि द्वारा प्राधिकृत कोई दण्डादेश दे सकता है।
(2) सेशन न्यायाधीश या अपर सेशन न्यायाधीश विधि द्वारा प्राधिकृत कोई भी दण्डादेश दे सकता है, किन्तु उसके द्वारा दिए गए मृत्यु दण्डादेश के उच्च न्यायालय द्वारा पुष्टि किए जाने की आवश्यकता होगी।
(3) सहायक सेशन न्यायाधीश मृत्यु या आजीवन कारावास या दस वर्ष से अधिक की अवधि के लिए कारावास के दण्डादेश के सिवाय कोई ऐसा दण्डादेश दे सकता है जो विधि द्वारा प्राधिकृत है।
