Section 132 of MV Act 1988 :- Duty of driver to stop in certain cases -- (1) The driver of a motor vehicle shall cause the vehicle to stop and remain stationary so long as may for such reasonable time as may be necessary, but not exceeding twenty-four hours -

(a) when required to do so by any police officer not below the rank of a Sub Inspector in uniform, in the event of the vehicle being involved in the occurrence of an accident to a person, animal or vehicle or of damage to property, or

(b) when required to do so by any person in charge of an animal if such person apprehends that the animal is, or being alarmed by the vehicle will become, unmanageable; or

and he shall give his name and address and the name and address of the owner of the vehicle to any person affected by any such accident or damage who demands it provided such person also furnishes his name and address.

(2) The driver of a motor vehicle shall, on demand by a person giving his own name and address and alleging that the driver has committed an offence punishable under section 184 give his name and address to that person.

(3) In this section the expression “animal” means any horse, cattle, elephant, camel, ass, mule, sheep or goat.

मोटर यान अधिनियम, 1988 की धारा 132 का विवरण :  -  कुछ दशाओं में ड्राइवर का रोकने का कर्तव्य -- (1) किसी मोटर यान का ड्राइवर उस यान को निम्नलिखित दशाओं में रोकेगा और उसे ऐसे युक्तियुक्त समय तक, जो आवश्यक हो और जो चौबीस घंटे से अधिक न हो, खड़ा रखेगा अर्थात् :

(क) वर्दी पहने हुए ऐसे पुलिस अधिकारी द्वारा, जो उपनिरीक्षक की पंक्ति से नीचे का न हो, ऐसा करने की अपेक्षा की जाने पर, यान के किसी व्यक्ति, पशु या अन्य यान के साथ दुर्घटना हो जाने अथवा किसी संपत्ति को कोई नुकसान पहुंचाने की दशा में, या

(ख) किसी ऐसे पशु के भारसाधक व्यक्ति द्वारा ऐसे करने की अपेक्षा की जाने पर जबकि ऐसे व्यक्ति को आशंका है कि वह पशु नियंत्रण के बाहर हो गया है या यान से डर कर अनियंत्रित हो जाएगा, या 

और वह अपना नाम और पता तथा यान के स्वामी का नाम और पता ऐसी किसी दुर्घटना या नुकसान से प्रभावित किसी व्यक्ति को बताएगा जो उसकी मांग करे परन्तु यह तब जबकि ऐसा व्यक्ति भी अपना नाम और पता दे ।

(2) मोटर यान का ड्राइवर ऐसे व्यक्ति द्वारा मांग की जाने पर जिसने अपना नाम और पता दिया है और यह अभिकथन किया है कि ड्राइवर ने धारा 184 के अधीन दंडनीय अपराध किया है, उस व्यक्ति को अपना नाम और पता देगा ।

(3) इस धारा में “पशु" शब्द से कोई घोड़ा, ढोर, हाथी, ऊंट, गधा, खच्चर, भेड़ या बकरी अभिप्रेत है ।
