Section 21  Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996: 

Commencement of arbitral proceedings.—Unless otherwise agreed by the parties, the arbitral proceedings in respect of a particular dispute commence on the date on which a request for that dispute to be referred to arbitration is received by the respondent.

माध्यस्थम् कार्यवाहियों का प्रारम्भ-जब तक कि पक्षकारों द्वारा अन्यथा करार न किया गया हो, किसी विशिष्ट विवाद के संबंध में माध्यस्थम् कार्यवाहियां उस तारीख को प्रारम्भ होंगी, जिसको उस विवाद को माध्यस्थम् को निर्देशित करने के लिए अनुरोध प्रत्यर्थी द्वारा प्राप्त किया जाता है ।
