Section 401 of IPC 1860:- Punishment for belonging to gang of thieves -

Whoever, at any time after the passing of this Act, shall belong to any wandering or other gang of persons associated for the purpose of habitually committing theft or robbery, and not being a gang of thugs or dacoits, shall be punished with rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine.

आईपीसी, 1860 (भारतीय दंड संहिता) की धारा 401 का विवरण - जो कोई इस अधिनियम के पारित होने के पश्चात् किसी भी समय ऐसे व्यक्तियों की किसी घूमती-फिरती या अन्य टोली का होगा जो, अभ्यासतः चोरी या लूट करने के प्रयोजन से सहयुक्त हों और वह टोली ठगों या डाकुओं की टोली न हो, वह कठिन कारावास से, जिसकी अवधि सात वर्ष तक की हो सकेगी, दण्डित किया जाएगा और जुर्माने से भी दण्डनीय होगा।
