Section 501 of IPC 1860:-Printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory -
Whoever prints or engraves any matter, knowing or having good reason to believe that such matter is defamatory of any person, shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.

जो कोई किसी बात को यह जानते हुए, या विश्वास करने का अच्छा कारण रखते हुए कि ऐसी बात किसी व्यक्ति के लिए मानहानिकारक है, मुद्रित करेगा, या उत्कीर्ण करेगा, वह सादा कारावास से, जिसकी अवधि दो वर्ष तक की हो सकेगी, या जुर्माने से, या दोनों से, दण्डित किया जाएगा।
