Section 171D of IPC 1860:-  Personation at elections -

Whoever at an election applies for a voting paper or votes in the name of any other person, whether living or dead, or in a fictitious name, or who having voted once at such election applies at the same election for a voting paper in his own name, and whoever abets, procures or attempts to procure the voting by any person in any such way, commits the offence or personation at an election :

Provided that nothing in this section shall apply to a person who has been authorised to vote as proxy for an elector under any law for the time being in force in so far as he votes as a proxy for such elector.

आईपीसी, 1860 (भारतीय दंड संहिता) की धारा 171घ का विवरण - निर्वाचनों में प्रतिरूपण -

जो कोई किसी निर्वाचन में किसी अन्य व्यक्ति के नाम से, चाहे वह जीवित हो या मृत, या किसी कल्पित नाम से, मतपत्र के लिए आवेदन करता या मत देता है, या ऐसे निर्वाचन में एक बार मत दे चुकने के पश्चात् उसी निर्वाचन में अपने नाम के मतपत्र के लिए आवेदन करता है, और जो कोई किसी व्यक्ति द्वारा किसी ऐसे प्रकार से मतदान को दुष्प्रेरित करता है, उपाप्त करता है या उपाप्त करने का प्रयत्न करता है, वह निर्वाचन में प्रतिरूपण का अपराध करता है।

परन्तु यह तब जबकि, इस धारा में का कुछ भी, उस व्यक्ति को लागू नहीं होगा, जिसको तत्समय प्रवृत्त किसी विधि के तहत, किसी मतदाता के लिए, परोक्षी के रूप में, मतदान करने के लिए प्राधिकृत किया गया है, जहां तक, वह ऐसे मतदाता के लिए एक परोक्षी के रूप में मतदान करता है।
