 Justice K.S.Puttaswamy (Retd.) vs Union of India - Supreme Court Important Judgment 2017 - 

 

On 24th August, 2017, in the case of Justice K.S.Puttaswamy (Retd.) and Anr. v. Union of India and Ors. [Writ Petition(Civil) No.494 of 2012], a nine judge Bench examined the issue as to whether there is any fundamental right of privacy under the Indian Constitution. It was held that “the right to privacy is protected as an intrinsic part of the right to life and personal liberty under Article 21 and as a part of the freedoms guaranteed by Part III of the Constitution.”
