Section 87 Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 in Hindi and English 

Section 87 Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 :Any material alteration of a negotiable instrument renders the same void as against anyone who is a party thereto at the time of making such alteration and does not consent thereto, unless it was made in order to carry out the common intention of the original parties;

Alteration by indorsee — And any such alteration, if made by an indorsee. discharges his indorser from all liability to him in respect of the consideration thereof.

The provisions of this section are subject to those of sections 20, 49, 86 and 125.

परक्राम्य लिखत अधिनियम, 1881 की धारा 87 का विवरण :  - परक्राम्य लिखत में का कोई भी तात्विक परिवर्तन उसे किसी के विरुद्ध भी, जो कि ऐसे परिवर्तन के समय उसका पक्षकार और उसके प्रति सम्मत नहीं हुआ है, तब के सिवाय शून्य कर देता है जब कि वह परिवर्तन मूल पक्षकारों के सामान्य आशय को पूरा करने के लिए किया गया हो;

पृष्ठांकिती द्वारा परिवर्तन -- और यदि ऐसा कोई परिवर्तन पृष्ठांकिती द्वारा किया गया है, तो वह उसके प्रतिफल की बाबत् उसके सब दायित्व से उसके पृष्ठांकक को उन्मोचित कर देता है ।

इस धारा के उपबंध धाराएँ 20, 49, 86 और 125 के उपबंधों के अध्यधीन हैं ।
