Section 85 The Army Act, 1950  :Punishment of junior commissioned officers. A commanding officer or such other officer as is, with the consent of the Central Government, specified by 1[ the Chief of the Army Staff] may, in the prescribed manner, proceed against a junior commissioned officer who is charged with an offence under this Act 2[ and award one or more of the following punishments, that is to say,-

(i) severe reprimand or reprimand;

(ii) stoppage of pay and allowances until any proved loss or damage occasioned by the offence of which he is convicted is made good: Provided that the punishment specified in clause (i) shall not be awarded if the commanding officer or such other officer is below the rank of Colonel]

सेना अधिनियम, 1950 की धारा 85 का विवरण :  - कनिष्ठ आयुक्त आफिसरों का दण्डित किया जाना - कमान आफिसर या अन्य ऐसा आफिसर जिसे थल सेनाध्यक्ष ने केन्द्रीय सरकार की सम्मति से विनिर्दिष्ट किया हो, ऐसे कनिष्ठ आयुक्त आफिसर के विरुद्ध जिस पर इस अधिनियम के अधीन अपराध का आरोप है, कार्यवाही विहित रीति से कर सकेगा और निम्नलिखित दंडों में से एक या अधिक दंड अधिनिर्णीत कर सकेगा, अर्थात्:-

(i) तीव्र-धिग्दंड या धिग्दंड;

(ii) वेतन और भत्तों को तब के लिए रोक देना जब तक उस साबित हानि या नुकसान की प्रतिपूर्ति न हो जाए, जो उस अपराध के कारण हुआ है जिसका वह सिद्धोदोष ठहराया गया है:

परन्तु खंड (i) में विनिर्दिष्ट दंड उस दशा में अधिनिर्णीत नहीं किया जाएगा यदि कमान आफिसर या ऐसा अन्य आफिसर कर्नल के रैंक से नीचे का है।
