Section 17 The Army Act, 1950  :(1) When a person who is to be attested is reported fit for duty, or has completed the prescribed period

of probation, an oath or affirmation shall be administered to him in the prescribed form by his

commanding officer in front of his corps or such portion thereof or such members of his department as

may be present, or by any other prescribed person.

(2) The form of oath or affirmation prescribed under this section shall contain a promise that the

person to be attested will bear true allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established, and

that he will serve in the regular Army and go wherever he is ordered by land, sea or air, and that he

will obey all commands of any officer set over him, even to the peril of his life.

(3) The fact of an enrolled person having taken the oath or affirmation directed by this section to be

taken shall be entered on his enrolment paper, and authenticated by the signature of the officer

सेना अधिनियम, 1950 की धारा 17 का विवरण :  - (1) जब कि उस व्यक्ति के बारे में जिसे शपथ दिलायी जानी है, यह रिपोर्ट है कि वह कर्तव्य के योग्य है या जब कि ऐसा व्यक्ति परिवीक्षा की विहित कालावधि पूरी कर चुका है, तब उसके कोर या उसके ऐसे प्रभाग के समक्ष या उसके विभाग के ऐसे सदस्यों के समक्ष, जो उपस्थित हों, उसके कमान आफिसर द्वारा या किसी अन्य विहित व्यक्ति द्वारा विहित रूप में शपथ दिलाई जाएगी या उससे प्रतिज्ञान कराया जाएगा।

(2) इस धारा के अधीन विहित शपथ या प्रतिज्ञान के प्ररूप में यह प्रतिज्ञा अंतर्विष्ट होगी कि वह व्यक्ति जिसे शपथ दिलायी जानी है, विधि द्वारा स्थापित भारत के संविधान के प्रति सत्यनिष्ठा रखेगा कि वह नियमित सेना में सेवा करेगा तथा भूमि, समुद्र या वायु मार्ग से जहां कहीं जाने का उसे आदेश दिया जाएगा, और कि वह अपने उपरिस्थापित किसी आफिसर के सब समादेशों का अपने जीवन की जोखिम उठाकर भी पालन करेगा।

(3) यह तथ्य कि अभ्यावेशित व्यक्ति ने वह शपथ ले ली है या प्रतिज्ञान कर लिया है, जो इस धारा द्वारा निर्दिष्ट है, उसके अभ्यावेशन पत्र में प्रविष्ट किया जाएगा और शपथ दिलाने या प्रतिज्ञान कराने वाले आफिसर के हस्ताक्षर से अधिप्रमाणीकृत किया जाएगा।
