Section 181 of IPC 1860:-False statement on oath or affirmation to public servant or person authorised to administer an oath or affirmation -

Whoever, being legally bound by an oath or affirmation to state the truth on any subject to any public servant or other person authorized by law to administer such oath or affirmation, makes, to such public servant or other person as aforesaid, touching the subject, any statement which is false, and which he either knows or believes to be false or does not believe to be true, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, and shall also be liable to fine.

आईपीसी, 1860 (भारतीय दंड संहिता) की धारा 181 का विवरण -शपथ दिलाने या प्रतिज्ञान कराने के लिए प्राधिकृत लोक-सेवक के, या व्यक्ति के समक्ष शपथ या प्रतिज्ञान पर मिथ्या कथन -

जो कोई किसी लोक-सेवक या किसी अन्य व्यक्ति से, जो ऐसे शपथ दिलाने या प्रतिज्ञान देने के लिए विधि द्वारा प्राधिकृत हो, किसी विषय पर सत्य कथन करने के लिए शपथ या प्रतिज्ञान द्वारा वैध रूप से आबद्ध होते हुए ऐसे लोक-सेवक या यथापूर्वोक्त अन्य व्यक्ति से उस विषय के संबंध में कोई ऐसा कथन करेगा, जो मिथ्या है, और जिसके मिथ्या होने का या तो उसे ज्ञान है, या विश्वास है या जिसके सत्य होने का उसे विश्वास नहीं है, वह दोनों में से किसी भांति के कारावास से, जिसकी अवधि तीन वर्ष तक की हो सकेगी, दण्डित किया जाएगा, और जुर्माने से भी दण्डनीय होगा।
